Robert Arthur Wright was admitted to the Washington State Bar in September of 1968. He has been practicing law continuously since that time under Washington State Bar Association Number 4158.
Mr. Wright practiced with the Attorney General's Office representing the Washington State Highway Department (later the Washington State Department of Transportation) for a total of 31 years. Between 1968 and 1993 Mr. Wright was a litigator that handled numerous eminent domain and several highway construction cases for the State of Washington. Among the highway construction cases Mr. Wright worked on was the lawsuit against the Contractor working on the Lacey V. Morrow Bridge between Seattle and Mercer Island that sank during the Thanksgiving Weekend in 1990. After that case was resolved through mediation in 1993, Mr. Wright left the Attorney General's Office to enter private practice in Seattle with Culp, Guterson & Grader, a 50 lawyer law firm, until the firm's dissolution in 1995.
Mr. Wright worked for the Department of Natural Resources division of the Washington Attorney General's Office to resolve a Federal Condemnation action involving a 13,000 acre expansion of the Yakima Firing Center through a process of mediation and arbitration.
In 1996-2001, Mr. Wright represented the Washington State Convention and Trade Center, to acquire property for its 100,000 square foot expansion across Pike Street in downtown Seattle. During that time, Mr. Wright argued and won the case of State ex rel. the Washington State Convention and Trade Center v. Evans, 136 Wn.2d 811, 966 P.2d 1252 (Nov. 12, 1998) in the Washington State Supreme Court.
From 2001 until December 31, 2007, Mr. Wright worked for in 5-lawyer private law firm in Lakewood, Washington.
On January 1, 2008, Mr. Wright started a new solo law practice under the name of Robert A. Wright PLLC in Olympia, Washington. Mr. Wright practices law throughout Western Washington with emphasis in Thurston, Pierce and Lewis Counties.
